Mangaluru, Dec 25 : The joyous spirit of Christmas was celebrated with grandeur and devotion at Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru on December 23, 2024. The festive program by the students of grade VI C and D commenced with an elegant introduction by the emcees, who eloquently set the tone for the event, emphasizing the magic, joy and essence of Christmas.
The celebration began with a soulful prayer service led by the students, invoking divine blessings on the management, staff, students and the entire world. This was followed by a melodious Christmas carol sung by the school choir, lifting the festive spirits. A graceful welcome dance showcasing traditional hospitality captured the hearts of the audience.
A heartfelt welcome was extended to all by Sarah Menezes Prabhu, followed by the symbolic presentation of a flower sapling to the esteemed chief guest, Mr Royston Joseph Dsouza, PTEC member, by the Principal Sr Melissa as a token of love and appreciation. The event continued with a series of enlightening speeches delivered by students Rion Britto, Chris Rebello, Sanyam Nayak, Rion DSilva eloquently reflecting on the true significance of Christmas. Their words emphasized the themes of hope, peace, generosity, and love. A vivid portrayal of Christmas symbols with a spectacular fashion show, including the star, angel, Christmas tree, candle etc beautifully illustrated the timeless traditions of the season.
The festivities continued with a mesmerizing dance performance, and a deeply moving skit on the nativity story, which transported the audience to the humble birth of Jesus at Bethlehem. The skit resonated with the message of universal love, compassion, and salvation, while the choir’s melodious singing of carols enhanced the joyous atmosphere.
The chief guest, Mr Royston Joseph Dsouza, in his inspiring address, lauded the school for fostering a vibrant spirit of togetherness and community. He narrated a compelling story emphasizing compassion for the needy, reminding everyone to embrace the true spirit of Christmas.
The prize distribution ceremony added an element of celebration, with the chief guest honouring the winners of the competitions held on the occasion. Principal Sr Melissa expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the students of grade VI C and VI D and their mentors for orchestrating a vibrant and memorable event. She extended warm wishes for a joyous Christmas and a Splendid Happy New Year 2025.
The seamless and engaging compering by Rishal Satvik, Shanaya Martis, Tasya Bhandary and Aanya Danthy ensured the program flowed effortlessly, keeping the audience captivated throughout. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Tanish, who expressed deep gratitude to all contributors, leaving the audience with a sense of fulfilment and joy. The students also shared the joyous spirit of Christmas with the primary students and greeted them through their performances.
This joyous occasion also brought the entire staff for a get-together with engaging activities and delightful treats. Thus, the day beautifully encapsulated the true spirit of Christmas, leaving everyone with cherished memories of joy, peace and togetherness.
