Mangaluru, March 13, 2025 : An awareness session on the PoSH Act was organized by the Department of Business Administration of St Agnes College (Autonomous) on March 12. The resource person for the session was Ms. Vidya Shenoy, a certified PoSH Trainer. She began the session by narrating the story of Gaurav Pramanik and Richa Gautham, a case of sexual harassment. She then explained the relevance of the Act through a case that took place at Mahindra Company.

Ms. Shenoy oriented the students on the inception of the PoSH Act. She emphasized the difference between harassment and sexual harassment and elaborated on the different types of harassment. She enlightened the students about the PoSH Act and its cardinal rule: impact vs. intention.

She also discussed the factors covered under the constitution of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the PoSH Act, namely Prohibition, Prevention, and Redressal. Additionally, she highlighted disrespectful behaviors and how to manage them.

Ms. Shenoy further explained how an inquiry is conducted if someone is a perpetrator. She also spoke about formal and informal resolutions under SHEBOX.

The session concluded with a Q&A segment. The session was compered by Ms. Mitchell Dsouza, the welcome address was delivered by Mr. Niyanth, and the vote of thanks was given by Ms. Dhrithi Amin.
