Moodbidri, Dec 21 : On Friday, December 20, 2024, a vibrant Christmas tableau titled “Christmas 2024” was showcased in Kannada at Moodbidri Junction at 6 p.m. Organized by St. Mathew Deanery, the event aimed to spread the message of Christmas and enlighten the non-Catholic audience about the festival’s significance.
The program commenced with an address by Rev. Fr. Onil D’Souza,vicar forane of Moodbidri Deanery who highlighted the importance of Christmas and how Christians worldwide celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ through acts of goodness and love.
A team of 80 artists from various parishes within the deanery brought the story of the birth of Jesus Christ to life through enactments, singing, and dancing. The 30-minute performance was directed by Fr. Ronald D’Souza, with assistance from Mr. Sunil Miranda and Mr. Alwyn Menezes. Mr. Manohar Cutinha served as the compère for the program, skillfully managing the event .
The tableau captivated a large audience of over 1,000 people, including priests, nuns, and locals from diverse backgrounds. The event creatively depicted the essence of Christmas, emphasizing universal values of peace, love, and goodwill.
The gathering was further enriched by the presence of several priests and religious sisters from the deanery, who joined in witnessing and supporting the initiative.
As the program concluded, kuswar (traditional Christmas sweets) was distributed to all attendees, spreading festive joy and fostering a spirit of togetherness.
This initiative by St. Mathew Deanery successfully conveyed the true meaning of Christmas and brought the community together in celebration. The well-organized tableau left a lasting impact on the audience, bridging cultural and religious gaps while promoting unity and understanding.
