Loretto - Bantwal, Oct 31, 2024 : On the occasion of Mission Sunday, as per their Directors' guidance and Animators support, the ICYM (Indian Catholic Youth Movement) youth group of Our Lady of Loretto Church organized a scrap collection drive. The members went door to door, collecting scrap materials from the community, which included items like old newspapers, bottles, and metal waste. After gathering a substantial amount of scrap, they sold it to recycling centers and contributed the proceeds to the church for Mission Sunday. Their efforts not only raised funds but also promoted the values of community service, recycling, and environmental stewardship. The youth played a vital role in supporting missionary work through this meaningful initiative.

The Scrap Collection Drive focused on gathering various recyclable materials, including paper, plastics, metals, and electronic waste. After the collection, the materials were carefully segregated and sent to certified recycling centres to ensure proper handling and reuse. By focusing on reducing waste and repurposing valuable resources, the drive promoted a sustainable and eco-friendly approach that aligned well with the values of Mission Sunday.

The event saw active participation from numerous youth volunteers from ICYM, who contributed their time and efforts in diverse ways. They assisted in gathering, sorting, and transporting the scrap materials, working together to make the initiative a success. This collective effort fostered a spirit of teamwork and responsibility towards the environment among the young participants.

The funds raised from recycling the collected materials will be dedicated to supporting Mission Sunday 2024 initiatives. This contribution reflects ICYM Loretto Unit’s ongoing commitment to social causes and environmental stewardship, embodying the spirit of giving back to both the community and the environment.
