Mangaluru, Oct 30 : Two days - October 28 and 29 were dedicated to the celebration of Mission Sunday 2023 at St. Lawrence Church in Bondel.
Mission Sunday 2023 was organised in collaboration with the Catholic Sabha Bondel Unit, Saint Vincent De Paul (SVP) Society, and the Carmelite Sisters (AC). The church grounds hosted a spectacular festival on October 28th, Saturday, and Sunday, October 29th, following the Holy Eucharistic ceremony.
This heartwarming event brought together a large group of people to raise funds for Mission Sunday. The church was filled with parishioners.
A wide range of delectable food items, including pork bafat, pork chilly sorpotel, chicken biryani, chicken cutlets, chicken roll, chicken burger, idli, vada sambar, apam, potato twister, sweet corn, pineapple and kaayi holeige, chow chow bath, soda sarbath, tea , coffee & ice cream counters were among the day's highlights by Catholic Sabha members. Parishioners relished the delectable fare. The Carmelite sisters had a flower stall, flower saplings.
The auction was conducted by SVP members, who sold electronic items, vegetables, coconuts, rice, chicken, purses, bags, and other durable items.
The Catholic Sabha Bondel unit initiated to organise the mission on Sunday which was a grand success. The Ladies Association's stall selling toiletries was popular. The kids flocked to the ICYM & YCS members' game stands. Aim at the pyramid, Toss the Ring, Housie Housie, Lucky Coupon, Lifting the Wet Brick Game, Cock Lucky Draw and other games were among the ones that ICYM & YCS hosted. Every parishioner took part in the events with vigor.
Members of Bondel Parish's Parish Pastoral Council , ICYM and YCS members, Carmelite Sisters , Ladies Association, the SVP, the Catholic Sabha, and other volunteers put in a lot of hard work leading up to and during Mission Sunday.
Rev Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza – Parish Priest, Rev Fr Lancy D’Souza - Asst. parish Priest , Rev Fr Peter Gonsalves ,Catholic Sabha Members, SVP, Carmelite Sisters, Parish Pastoral Council Members , Ladies Association Members, ICYM & YCS Members ,volunteers, and parishioners all gave their maximum to ensure that this mission 2023 was a huge success.
A sizable number of people showed their love for generating money for the food fest Sunday by taking part in Mission 2023 . There was a sense of purpose among the populace. The rigorous planning of Mission 2023 was greatly aided by the efforts of all Gurkars and parish groups.
