Omzoor, Oct 23 : Mission Sunday was observed at Holy Family Church, Omzoor on October 22nd, 2023.
Followed by the Holy Eucharistic Celebration, a fancy fete was organized in the church grounds from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm. A large group of parishioners congregated to raise funds for a cause to help the needy through this heartwarming event.
Parish Priest Fr Alwyn Dcunha officially inaugurated the Fancy Fete 2023 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The event was led by the parish priest Fr Alwyn Dcunha, along with the parish pastoral council and various parish associations. The church came alive as parishioners gathered to partake in this charitable endeavor.
Parishioners wholeheartedly contributed an array of items as offerings during the Holy Mass. All of these were auctioned, including the fresh vegetables, fruits, roosters, honey, coconuts and many other items. Auction of these items was conducted by James Lewis.
Involvement of the parish pastoral council and all the parish associations was evident by actively collecting funds through sale of coupons and by organizing a variety of games and activities. All the parish associations viz., Catholic Sabha, Sthree Sanghatan, ICYM, YCS, Altar Servers Association, Vishesh Maniyari and SVP along with the parish pastoral council played a pivotal role in the success of the event.
Delectable variety of savories were also available at the stalls, dishes like Pork Bafat, Pork Sorpotel, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Curry, Idli, Panipuri, Sevpuri, Ice creams, Corn Chat, Churumuri, Lime Juice and much more were the highlights of the day. Parishioners enjoyed the delicious food items.
Special attraction was the American Auction of a goat. A goat was auctioned for a whopping Rs 2.83 lakhs, being the record bid in the history of Omzoor. Auctioneer was Elroy Saldanha.

The spirit of charity and giving was palpable throughout the day. The parishioners showcased their commitment towards the mission, raising funds that will surely make a positive impact. The mission Sunday auction and fancy fete was a testament for a large group of parishioners to serve for a greater cause.
