Mangaluru, Oct 2 : St Lawrence Church Bondel organized a training session for all the Conveners, Coordinators & Commission (Ayog) Animators on 2nd October 2023 in the St Lawrence English Medium Auditorium from 3p.m to 5 p.m. The purpose of this training is to know the role of being a Convener, an Animator & Coordinator using their skills, which could help in building a vibrant parish. V. Rev. Fr Faustine Lobo, Diocesan Coordinator for the Pastoral Commissions was the resource person.

Parish priest Rev Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Training began with a prayer song. Fr Andrew addressed the gathering.

V. Rev. Fr Faustine Lobo delivered a motivational speech and provided a detailed explanation of each of the commissions. Commission (Ayog) is a term used to describe an instruction, command, or role given to a person or group. “A group of people entrusted by an official body with authority to do something”.

Highlights of the training :

• The significance of the Pastoral Council and the types of commissions worldwide.
• The pastor is responsible for tending the sheep. The Pastor is the person who leads others.
• The importance of being a true leader, the role of a leader, and his selfless service to the parish. Lead by building bridges and climbing over walls as a leader.

The commission's entire development is divided into six types: 1. and 2. Cultural.3 Financial 4. Administration 5. Technology 6. Environment, explained through a PowerPoint presentation and the resource person answered all the questions that the members had.

Rev Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, Rev Fr Peter Gonsalves- principal, St Lawrence English Medium School, Rev Fr Lancy D’Souza Asst Parish Priest, Mr John D’Silva, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Mr Manoj Lewis, Director of all Church Commissions were present.

The session ended with the thanksgiving prayer and blessing. Parish Priest Fr. Andrew expressed gratitude to all the members for their active participation and constant support towards the parish's wellbeing.
