Mangaluru, Sep 22 : A Legal Awareness programme was held for the parishioners of St Lawrence Church Bondel on 17th September 2023 at 8.00 a.m. at Church Pendol. Rev Fr Andrew Leo D'Souza introduced the resource person Fr Joachim D’Souza OFM Cap with a warm welcome.

Fr Joachim addressed the parishioners and expressed the need of the hour to know our basic rights and to know the procedure to get ourselves protected from unnecessary problems through legal complications. Further, he gave more knowledge about the rules for construction of wills, The Types of wills: 1. Privileged Will · 2. Unprivileged Will · 3. Conditional Will · 4. Concurrent Will · 5. Mutual Will.

He also dealt with Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Civil Law, Criminal Law & Personal law, Uniform Civil Code : problems and prospects. Legal Literacy is an effective tool to protect human rights. It helps us to recognize our civil, political, social and cultural rights, explained Fr Joachim.

Parishioners took part in this programme in large numbers. An interactive session was also conducted during the course of the programme.
