Mogarnad, Sep 22 : On the sacred occasion of the Nativity of Mother Mary, the Deva Matha Youth Movement (ICYM) organized 'Moriyal Githam,' a ward-wise singing competition for the devoted parishioners of Mother of God Church in Mogarnad, on September 10th, 2023. This event was a jubilant celebration, bringing the community together through the harmonious voices and heartfelt songs.

The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, Rev Fr. Anil Canute Dmello, Parish Priest, and Director of DMYM, Mr. Praveen D'Cunha, President of St. John Paul II Deanery (ICYM), Sr. Anne, Head of Deva Matha Convent, Mr. Santhosh D'Souza, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Mr. Wilfred Lobo, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs. Emiliana D'Cunha, Coordinator of all the Commissions of The Church, Mr. Prashanth Lewis, Animator of DMYM, Mr. Avit Premson Lobo, President of DMYM, Ms. Melvita Christal Pereira, Secretary of DMYM.

The program commenced with a soulful hymn led by the members of DMYM. Avit Premson Lobo, the President of DMYM, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The dignitaries inaugurated the event symbolically by offering flowers to the Infant Mary Statue. Rev Fr. Anil Canute Dmello addressed the gathering, shedding light on the various names and significance of Virgin Mary. He emphasized the divine feeling associated with organizing the 'Moriyal Geetha' event and the abundant blessings that Mother Mary bestows upon all.

Fr. Anil Dmello stressed that organizing and participating in such events should have a meaningful impact on lives. 'Moriyal Geetha' competition, he mentioned, is a splendid event allowing the community to experience the divinity of Mother Mary.

Post the formal ceremony, Secretary Melvita conveyed the vote of thanks. The program was elegantly compered by Ms. Reshma D'Cunha, adding a lively and engaging touch to the event.

The DMYM members introduced the event's judges, Mr. Alwyn Noronha and Mrs. Meera Crasta. 

A total of 18 wards from the church participated in this melodious competition. The results were eagerly awaited, and the winners were celebrated:

First Place: Amtoor Ward
Second Place: Bolangady 2nd Ward
Third Place: Karingan Ward

To conclude the festivities on a delightful note, refreshments were provided, allowing participants and attendees to share moments of joy and camaraderie.

The 'Moriyal Geetha' singing competition held on the auspicious occasion of the Nativity of Mother Mary was a jubilant and harmonious event. It brought the parishioners of Mother of God Church, Mogarnad, together in a spirit of devotion and unity, underscoring the importance of faith and community.
