Vittla, Sep 13 : Our Lady of Dolours Church,Vittla in association with ICYM and with the support of 21 commissions Inaugurated "Anti-Drug Month Awareness Campaign" on 3rd September 2023 after the first mass.
Fr.Manoj SFX, the assistant Parish Priest Of Salethur Church,Vittla church Vice President Mr.Vijay Pais, Secretary Mr. Thomas Mascarenhas, Coordinator of 21 Commissions Louis Mascarenhas along with the ICYM President Glanson Mascarenhas and Secretary Avil Lobo, symbolically gave a start to the campaign by Inaugurating the Logo of Anti-Drug Campaign. Awareness Pamphlets were then distributed to the people through the ward Gurkars.
The Campaign then continued with the play enacted by the members of ICYM. The play emphasized how a bright student got influenced by the wrong bunch of friends who were into drugs and how his academics and behavior were affected at home and in society. And how he lost his mother because of his changed behavior which made him attempt suicide. And then he was saved by his good friends who had earlier warned him to stay away from this addiction. The boy was later sent to counseling centers to get away from the addiction and to change his life for good.
The play was enacted again after the second mass as instructed by the parish priest, Fr.Ivan Michael Rodrigues.
Fr Sunil Praveen Pinto, parish priest of Delanthabettu church addressed the gathering.
At the end, Mr.Dilroy Mascarenhas, the member of ICYM, terminated the program.
