Surathkal, Aug 18 : ICYM St Mother Teresa Deanery Surathkal organised "Yuva Dabazo 2023", a gathering held especially for the youth of Surathkal on 13th August 2023 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Divine Call Retreat Centre , Mulki.
Rev.Fr. Sylvester D’Costa - director of ICYM Surathkal Deanery, Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres - Vicar Vara of Surathkal Deanery, Rev.Fr. Abraham Dsouza - director of Divine call retreat centre, Ms. Lavita Dsouza - president of ICYM Surathkal Deanery, Ms. Clarin Fernandes - secretary of ICYM Surathkal Deanery and Mr.Lloyd Menezes - the regional representative, were the dignitaries on the dais.
Invoking God’s blessings through a prayer hymn led by ICYM Surathkal Members marked the start of the performance. Lavita Dsouza, the president gave a warm welcome to the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by ICYM Katipalla unit members through the dignitaries’ blessed hands.
When Rev. Fr. Sylvester D’Costa took the platform, he addressed the young people with words of encouragement and motivation that sparked their ambition. He enlightened the youth about the ill effects of substance abuse and to live a healthy and ambitious life. Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres also showered his graceful thoughts regarding the youthfulness among the youth.
The ICYM Deanery Secretary Ms. Clarin Fernandes offered a cordial Vote of Thanks and thanked everyone for their contributions towards the event’s success.
Following the official inauguration, the ICYM members of Mulki unit and Katipalla unit displayed a wonderful dance performance.
Mr. Peter Pinto delivered an insightful speech on the topic of “Qualities and Types of Leadership” to an engaged audience. The speech focused on shedding light on the essential attributes that define effective leaders and explored various leadership styles that individuals can adopt to succeed in different scenarios.
Under the direction of Lavita Dsouza, the executive committee planned ice-breaker games and action songs to inject energy and joy into the occasion.
Mr. Mithesh Dsouza, ICYM Diocesan Youth President delivered a speech that inspired the audience and emphasised the value of talent utilisation and empowerment during the afternoon season launch.
After lunch, a fun-filled activity was conducted group-by-group.
A baila dancing session marked the culmination of the event and brought the youth together in joyful celebration. The “YUVA DABAZO-2023” farewell programme started as the day came to an end, and awards were given out to the victorious losers of various games.
The ICYM director, Rev. Fr. Sylvester Dcosta expressed his sincere appreciation to all of the ICYM organisers for the day and urged everyone in attendance to join ICYM in order to lead a fruitful life moving forward in the Parish, the Society, and most importantly, for the Lord.
Within the St Mother Teresa Deanery, YUVA DABAZO-2023 has left an enduring imprint of friendship, inspiration, and unification. The youth’s dedication and shared commitment to create a more resilient, empowered future are demonstrated by the event’s overwhelming success.
