Mangaluru, July 17 : Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru celebrated the school feast, the feast of Mary, Mother of Mount Carmel, the patroness of the school and 155th foundation day of the Apostolic Carmel on July 15th 2023 with great devotion and fervor.

The celebration for the seniors was hosted by the students of grade IX A and B. The programme commenced with a befitting prayer service invoking the divine blessings through the intercession of Mary, Queen of Carmel. The students welcomed the audience with a graceful dance followed by a welcome speech by Dhyeya of IX B. The chief guest of the day, Sr Asha Prima A.C, the Superior of Vijaymari Convent and the new joint secretary of the school was welcomed with a flower sapling. Chrisel, Michelle and Samarth highlighted the significance of the day and referred Carmel as a garden of love, joy and service. The choir in their melodious voices paid tribute to Mother of Carmel. The skit took the audience back to the history of Mount Carmel. The series of dances mesmerized the audience and brought in the spirit of celebration, highlighting the role of a mother. Sr Asha Prima in her address appreciated all the performers and highlighted a few virtues of Mother Mary with a call for the students to practice them in their lives. Sr Melissa, the principal lauded the efforts of the students and the staff in putting up a meaningful programme. She urged the students to take inspiration from the life of Venerable Mother Veronica, who, not minding the difficulties and challenges faced, dared to do great things for God, specially to impart quality education to children. The dignitaries on the dais awarded the winners of drawing, poster and skit competitions, as well as bulletin board competition. The anchors for the programme were Ranya Garg, Aman, Jaden and Cheryl.

The cultural programme for juniors commenced seeking the divine blessings through the intercession of Mary Mother of Carmel. The welcome accorded with words and actions by the robots was amazing and unmatched. The students of grade III C and D artistically and spiritually portrayed the history of the Carmelite order, the role of Mother Mary in their lives and the scapular, a sign of grace for the Carmelite order was also well presented. The enlightening skit on Prophet Elijah sent forth one strong message that is to be steadfast in faith, to love and to serve. Students poured out tributes through melodious songs and graceful dances to Mother of Carmel and Venerable Mother Veronica, the foundress of the Apostolic Carmel. The Chief Guest Sr Leela A.C, Superior of Maryhill Convent, praised the students and the staff for putting up a worthy tribute to Mary, Mother of Mount Carmel and urged students to pass on the baton of four D’s Devotion, Dedication, Discipline and Determination. She also felicitated the winners of the competitions “Go Green” and the “Class Bulletin Board”. The Principal Sr Melissa radiantly wished the students and staff on the occasion of the school feast and reminded of the protection of Mother Mary on the institution. The programme ended engraving in the minds of the audience the core values of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation and reverence to the patroness of the school, Mary Mother of Carmel. The joy of the students was doubled when they received the sweets on this occasion. It was indeed a great day for all at MCCS.

On 14th July, Rev Fr Melwyn DCunha OCD celebrated the Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist. In his homily, he briefed the students about the virtues of Mother Mary and history of Mount Carmel. The students of grade XI and XII led the liturgy. Venerable Mother Veronica, Foundress of the Apostolic Carmel was also fondly remembered.
