Omzoor, Mar 20 : Womanhood should be celebrated every day, however, a day dedicated to women makes it more special and beautiful. There is no limit, what a woman can accomplish.

International Women’s Day, celebrated on 8th March, is a fitting tribute to all the women who bestow unconditional love and brighten our lives every single day. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Sthree Sanghatan of Omzoor Parish, organized women’s day celebration on 19th March 2023. The celebration began with Solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 7.30am which was celebrated by Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, Parish Priest. Sthree Sanghatan, led the liturgy.

A get together was organized in the Sabha Bhavan at 9.00am. The program began with a prayer song led by Mrs Vinaya Braggs and group. Mrs Janet Cutinho, President of Sthree Sanghatan, Omzoor Unit welcomed the gathering.

Fr Alwyn D’Cunha in his presidential speech stressed on the importance of family life, mental and physical health of women. He also stated the difficulties a woman or a girl has to undergo even in today’s world. He also stressed on the importance of mental health in today’s present world which is filled with worries and stressful life. He also stated that women are an integral part of a family.

Thereafter, various cultural and fun activities were also organized. A special women’s day song led by Mrs Janet Cutinho and group was sung wishing all the women present. Mrs Delphin Dsouza, sang a melodious song. Catholic Sabha, Omzoor Unit gave a wonderful dance performance. Mrs Meera Dsouza, made the crowd laugh with her jokes. Mrs Dafny Lewis, conducted various spot games.

Mrs Lilly Mascarenhas, an elderly active participant of women’s day celebration distributed the prizes for the winners of spot games.

Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, Parish Priest, Mr. Arthur Dsouza, Vice-President of Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs Dafny Lewis, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Sr Cynthia Saldanha, superior St Charles Convent, Mrs Janet Cuntinho, President of Sthree Sanghatan, Mrs Milli Dsouza, Secretary of Sthree Sanghatan were present on the Dais.

Mrs Milli Dsouza, rendered the vote of thanks.

The program concluded with a baila dance. About 100 women of the parish actively participated in the program.
