Shivamogga, 15 April : The Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC) meeting of the Diocese of Shimoga was held on 14 April 2025 at Sannidhi, the Pastoral Renewal Centre, Shivamogga. The meeting was presided over by Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, the Bishop of Shimoga. Around 55 members participated in the session, including Msgr Stany D'Souza, various commission directors, and DPC representatives from across the diocese.

The day's deliberations began with reading the report of the previous meeting by the Secretary, Mr Anthony Wilson, and getting it approved by the assembly. Msgr Stany D'Souza led a session focused on revising and evaluating the 2025 Jubilee Year programmes. Rev. Fr Simon Pinto delivered an insightful talk on the functioning and effectiveness of various commissions within the diocese. In his address, Bishop Francis Serrao elaborated on the diocesan Think Tank's scope and vision, and solicited opinions on declaring 2026 the Year of the Marginalized, highlighting the importance of charitable works and service to the poor.

Several other general matters concerning the diocese's pastoral life were discussed, and the members sought clarifications and shared valuable suggestions.

The meeting began with prayer led by Rev. Fr Biju Thomas. Mr Arogyaswamy delivered the welcome address, while Mrs Lizzy Anthony effectively compered the programme. Mr Dayasagar expressed gratitude at the conclusion of the meeting. The meeting concluded with a prayer led by Msgr Stany D'Souza. Fr Steven D'Sa, the Laity Commission Director, coordinated the programme with DPC Secretary Mr Anthony Wilson.

A fellowship lunch was served, and the participants felt spiritually and pastorally enriched by the discussions and interactions.
