Puttur, April 15, 2025 : The NSS Unit of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, observed Ambedkar Jayanti with spirited participation to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.

Presiding over the event, Dr Vijaya Kumar Moleyar, Vice Principal of the college, remarked, “The Indian Constitution, framed under the visionary leadership of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, upholds the ideals of democracy, equality, and social justice. It is the fundamental duty of students to respect and safeguard the Constitution.”

Dr Chandrashekar K., NSS Programme Officer, in his keynote address, emphasized, “The Constitution bestows upon us both rights and duties. Just as we cherish our rights, it is equally essential to fulfil our duties with sincerity.”

The programme commenced with a floral tribute to the portrait of Dr Ambedkar, as a mark of respect. A thematic paper presentation session on ‘Ambedkar and the Constitution’ was delivered by NSS volunteers Punya, Gayathri, and Lavika, who eloquently discussed Dr Ambedkar’s role in shaping the constitutional ethos of modern India.

The event was anchored by NSS Unit Leader Kavya H. Rao. The prayer was rendered by Greeshma and her team. The welcome address was delivered by NSS Unit Leader Archana K., and the vote of thanks was proposed by Vishnujith M.

NSS Programme Officer Mrs Pushpa N., Unit Leader Kevin, Secretary Niranjan, and faculty members Harshith and Pruthvi, who collectively contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
