Moodbidri, March 18, 2025 : The three-day Scouts and Guides Camp at Carmel School Moodbidri, was a dynamic blend of discipline, adventure and skill-building, fostering teamwork and leadership among students.
Day 1: Foundations of Scouting
The camp began with an inaugural session followed by an informative talk on the history of scouting and guiding by Mr. Naveen from Excellent School. Students were introduced to discipline, values and scouting principles by the Scout Masters and Guide Captains.
The day continued with skill-based sessions, including knot-tying, hitches and lashings by Mrs. Devaki (HWB) and craftwork by Sir Sandeep. The students also learned the flag procedure, engaged in recreational games and practiced Baden Powell’s Six Exercises. The day ended with the flag-lowering ceremony and a student-led cultural program showcasing leadership and teamwork.
Day 2: Adventure, Service and Camaraderie
The morning started with an exercise session, followed by flag hoisting and kit inspection. Students then attended a bandaging and first-aid session by Mrs. Devaki, an art and drawing workshop by Sir Sandeep, and training on First Aid, Flags, Estimation and Observation by the Scout Masters and Guide Captains.
The highlight of the day was an exciting hiking expedition during which students participated in a public service initiative—cleaning the local bus stand—to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness. The hike also included a visit to Gandhi Park and lessons on hiking signs and techniques.
The day concluded with recreational games, campfire preparations and a thrilling campfire night, filled with songs, stories and camaraderie.
Day 3: Reflection and Farewell
The final day began with a Sarva Dharma prayer followed by the lowering of the flag, and the official declaration of the camp’s conclusion. Students actively participated in cleaning the campus and camp area ensuring they left the space better than they found it.
Students departed with new skills, unforgettable experiences and a renewed spirit of adventure and service truly embodying the Scouting Motto: "Be Prepared."
