Udupi, March 2 : On February 28, 2025, St. Cecily English Medium Higher Primary School, Udupi, celebrated National Science Day, aligning with the national theme: "Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat." This theme highlights the crucial role of young minds in driving India's scientific and technological progress.
The programme commenced with a prayer service by the students, which included a prayer song, a biblical verse seeking blessings for knowledge and wisdom, and a reflection on the significance of Science Day. Following this, Aleena, a Grade 4 student, warmly welcomed the esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Ullas Mestha and the gathering.
A student representative then delivered a speech on the significance of National Science Day, explaining its relevance to the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman and its impact on the scientific world.
The event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Ullas Mestha, the Principal of the National Institute for Self Help Groups, who conducted a simple science experiment to engage the students and spark curiosity. This interactive experiment set an exciting tone for the celebration. The Chief Guest then delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of scientific thinking, innovation, and research in India's journey toward becoming a global leader in science and technology.
As part of the celebrations, a Notice Board Decoration Competition was organized, where students creatively presented scientific facts, achievements of great scientists, and the latest advancements in science and technology. The beautifully designed notice boards enriched the learning experience and highlighted the students' artistic and intellectual skills.
One of the main attractions of the event was the Science Exhibition, where students displayed innovative models, experiments, and research projects. The exhibition featured working models, charts, and demonstrations, covering various scientific concepts, including physics, chemistry, biology,and technology. The Chief Guest appreciated the students' hard work and creativity, encouraging them to continue their journey in science and innovation.
The much-awaited prize distribution ceremony then took place, recognizing the winners of Notice board decoration. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Rithika Patel, a student from Grade 6. Ayesha Manha, Manan, and Aaron Fernandes efficiently served as the Masters of Ceremony for the programme.
The National Science Day celebration at St. Cecily’s was a great success, leaving students inspired and motivated to explore the world of science further. It was a memorable event that reinforced the importance of scientific thinking and innovation in everyday life. The celebration successfully instilled a passion for science among students, encouraging them to aspire toward global leadership in scientific innovation, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
