Mangaluru, Feb 3, 2025 : On January 30th, observed as Martyrs' Day and World Peace Day, St. Agnes School (CBSE) solemnly paid tribute to the unparalleled sacrifices made by Mahatma Gandhi and the countless unsung heroes who gave their lives in the service of the nation. This significant day, marked by a nationwide minute of silence in honour of these martyrs, was observed with profound reverence and patriotism at the school.

The commemoration took place in the Block I Hall, where the programme began with a soulful prayer service, setting a deeply spiritual and solemn tone. A graceful prayer dance followed, further elevating the reverence of the occasion. The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome that emphasized the importance of reflecting on the values of freedom, sacrifice, and peace.

Students eloquently conveyed the historical and emotional significance of Martyrs' Day through insightful speeches. The program featured an enthralling dance performance, which captivated the audience, while a poignant skit, portraying Mahatma Gandhi's selfless sacrifice, moved all present with its sincerity and depth. A striking tableau, which vividly depicted the life and resilience of soldiers, left an indelible mark, illustrating their unwavering bravery and sacrifice for the nation. The students of Grades IVA, IVB, and VI B, under the meticulous guidance of their teachers, delivered a truly exceptional and heartfelt performance that was both inspiring and humbling.

The Vice Principal, Sr. Meena Fernandes AC, graced the occasion as the esteemed Chief Guest. She commended the students for their enthusiastic participation, meticulous preparation, and the emotional depth of their presentations. In her address, Sr. Meena beautifully highlighted the enduring legacy of the martyrs, whose sacrifices continue to shape the freedom and peace that we hold dear today. She urged the students to live with compassion, humility, and harmony, and to become advocates for peace in their communities.

Students, and staff members gathered in unity, each contributing to the sombre yet uplifting atmosphere of the event. The programme was expertly compered by Aaron Nazareth and Raizel Pearl Crasta, whose seamless coordination added to the elegance of the proceedings. Jagriti Kotian delivered a gracious welcome, setting a warm tone for the gathering, while Sarah Olivia Sequeira concluded the event with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to all participants and contributors.

The programme culminated in a stirring rendition of the National Anthem, uniting all present in a collective moment of pride and reflection.
