Mangaluru, Jan 27 : The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at Carmel School, Mangaluru on January 26, 2025. The school campus was beautifully adorned with tricolor decorations, creating an atmosphere filled with pride and unity. The flag hoisting ceremony was graced by Mr. Jeffrey Rodrigues, Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics at Government First Grade College, Car Street, and Rev. Sr. Smitha AC, Joint Secretary of St. Ann’s Campus Institutions.

Following the ceremony, the celebrations continued in the auditorium, where the students of Grade 6 presented a vibrant cultural program. Ms. Jyothi M, Sub-Inspector at Central Police Station Mangalore, was the Chief Guest for the event. Along with Rev. Sister Lilly Pushpa AC, the Principal, and Sister Premal AC, she paid homage to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Rajendra Prasad by garlanding their portraits before lighting the ceremonial diya. The prayer service emphasized gratitude and hope for the nation’s progress, while scripture readings reinforced the importance of respecting and honoring the country.

The students captivated the audience with patriotic songs, dances, and a skit. One particularly memorable dance showcased the cultural diversity of India, while a thought-provoking skit focused on the theme of unity in diversity. The skit reminded everyone that, though our differences in customs, beliefs, languages, and festivals may vary, we are all part of one family and must stand together to build a more inclusive world.

In her address, Chief Guest Ms. Jyothi M highlighted the significance of the Preamble of the Constitution, Fundamental Rights and Duties, and the origins of the Indian Constitution. She urged students to actively contribute to nation-building through education and service. Aadhya J and Naima Sara Varghese also took the stage to reflect on the importance of Republic Day and honour the sacrifices made by freedom fighters for the country’s independence.

The day’s program concluded with a rendition of the inspiring song "Hum Honge Kaamiyab," filling the hearts of all present with hope and patriotism. The event, compered by Rachith P Kunder and Rithanya Shetty, left everyone deeply moved and proud to be part of such a significant celebration. Ayman welcomed the gathering, and Susanna delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to making the event a memorable one.
