Puttur, Oct 21 : St Philomena College Puttur hosted a workshop on Health and Hygiene on 20 October, 2023. This event was organized by the Women Empowerment Cell, Anti-Women Harassment Cell, Youth Red Cross Society, and the Health Centre of the College.

The workshop featured Dr Raghavendra Prasad, the Founder and Medical Director of Prasadini Ayur Nikethan in Narimogeru, as the resource person. Dr Prasad emphasized the critical importance of mental health, highlighting that it is on par with physical well-being. He stressed that the prevalent stress and social pressures in today’s world can lead to various health issues. Dr Prasad specifically addressed the role of unhealthy dietary habits in conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. He encouraged students to adopt a healthy diet as an integral part of their lives, underlining that cultivating good habits is essential for maintaining a stable body and mind. Ensuring a balanced and nutritious diet throughout the day was emphasized as vital for a healthy lifestyle.

The program was presided over by Prof. Ganesh Bhat, Vice Principal of the College, who shared words of wisdom and inspiration with the students. Additionally, the winners of the ‘Cook Without Fire’ competition were recognized and awarded prizes during the event.

The event commenced with a prayer led by Mahima and her team, followed by a warm welcome by Nada. Priya D’Souza introduced the esteemed guest speaker to the audience, while Abhijna delivered the vote of thanks. Bhavishya compered the program.
