Moodbidri, Sep 8 : The students and staff of Carmel School Moodbidri came together to celebrate a grand celebration of the feast of Nativity of Mother Mary, The Girl Child day, Onam and Krishna Janmashtami on 6th September 2023. Prior to this day, the catholic student students and staff offered Novena prayer daily to Mother Mary from 30th August as preparation for her birthday. On this occasion Mother Mary statue was decorated with flowers in the school auditorium. Students of grade VIII organized a cultural extravaganza to celebrate the festivals. The students explained the importance of the day through a relevant prayer service.The gathering was beautifully welcomed by Ashrith Amin. The chief guest of the event was Mr Jossy Menezes the Vice president of PTA, he was cordially welcomed by Sr Gracilda A.C. the principal with a sapling and a momento as a token of love and respect. Sr Preena the Vice Principal, Sr Ranitha the coordinator also blessed the occasion with their blissful presence. Students extended a warm welcome to the gathering through a devotional dance which depicted the life of Mother Mary. The birth of Mother Mary and her admirable virtues were gracefully presented in the form of a skit. The significance of this day was highlighted by Venedict Santhamayor. To make the event more exciting and joyful, the students conveyed their happiness through an energetic fusion dance celebrating the birth of Mother Mary which apprised the audience. The chief guest in his speech wished everyone a happy feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary. He also urged the importance of the birth of Mother Mary. The principal, in her message, enlightened the students about the importance of prayer in their daily lives. She also asked the students to imbibe all the four virtues of Mother Mary like Humility, Devotion, Patience and Compassion for a peaceful life.

The Onam Pookalam and Thiruvathira dance performed by the teachers was the attraction of the day. The teachers moved in perfect synchrony, by the intricate footwork and graceful hand gesture, the audience were spellbound by their every movement. Students dressed in traditional Kerala attire also showcased the rhythmic prowess of traditional song of Onam festival.

The magical story of Krishnan Leela was depicted by a grade VI through a dance which left everyone in awe. Lastly the significance of Shri Krishna Janmasthami was well captivated by Ayush Anchan of grade VI.

The Catholic students honoured Mama Mary by offering flowers and donating vegetables to the needy as a love offering, which was distributed to the needy students of Holy Rosary school of the campus.

The programme was confidently compered by Disha Sanil and Melrone Lewis. Vote of thanks was well proposed by Pradhyumna.

Along with the students the Carmel family joins in wishing everyone a happy Nature festival. May Mother Mary on her birthday bless and intercede for all of us. Also on the joyous occasion of Onam, Janmasthami, Carmel school wishes everyone joy and good health. May all of us always enjoy the bounty of nature.
