Mangaluru, Sep 4 : St Agnes college (Autonomous), as a part of the Agnes Towards Community (ATC) initiative, in association with the Department of Botany organised Paddy Transplantation Programme 'From Classroom to Field' on 2 September 2023 at Meremajalu, Farangipete.
The programme was organised to motivate the young generation towards agriculture and give them an opportunity to understand the various techniques involved in agriculture.
‘At present, rice farming is reduced to a serious extent. We should preserve our relationship with the soil for the next generation and serve as part of an agrarian society," said the local head.
50 people including the staff of St Agnes college along with the residents transplanted two farmlands until evening. It was decided that the yield of the same will be distributed to the needy families.
It was an amazing experience for the students to get in touch with agricultural activity and farming. Focusing on future perspective this activity helped students in gaining more knowledge about paddy cultivation. Students were also exposed to the village setup where they had to cope up with rural atmosphere with minimal facilities and work along with it.
