Puttur , Aug 16 : In a joint effort to promote environmental consciousness, St Philomena College and St Philomena PU College, in collaboration with 3/19 KAR BN NCC Army SD/SW Wing and 5 KAR NAVAL NCC Navy SD/SW Wing, arranged an impactful 'Environmental Awareness Rally’ on August 15, on the occasion of the G20 Summit. The event witnessed the active participation of 2 ANOs, 67 NCC Army cadets, 12 Naval cadets, and over 500 NSS Volunteers, Rovers, Rangers, and students.
The rally, which commenced from the College quadrangle, traversed through Puttur City, including Darbe Circle and Fr Patrao Circle, before culminating in front of the college main entrance gate. Rev. DrAntony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of St Philomena College, inaugurated the rally and emphasized that safeguarding the environment is an imperative duty of every citizen. The event was graced by Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal of St Philomena P.U. College.
During the procession, brave cadets and students raised slogans advocating environmental preservation, aiming to sensitize the public to burning ecological concerns. The coordination of the rally was efficiently managed by NCC Officer Lt Johnson David Sequeira, along with Navy NCC Officer Thejaswi Bhat and the functional unit conveners.
The rally proved to be a resounding success, effectively combining education and action to foster a greater sense of responsibility towards the environment among the participants and the public at large.
