Mangaluru, July 15 : Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School Kotekar celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patroness of the school on 14th of July 2023.
The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on the 16th of July commemorates the appearance of Mother Mary on Mount Carmel in Palestine, where she appeared to St. Simon Stock, the Superior General of the Carmelite order in the year 1251. This day is also celebrated as Foundation day of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation, which was founded by Venerable Mother Veronica, Foundress of the Apostolic Carmel in 1868 at Bayonne, France.
To mark this day , they had a holy Mass for Catholic Children and staff by Rev Fr. Liguory Crasta OCD, thanking Mother Mary, Queen of Carmel for her maternal care and protection over the past years.
The event in honour of Mother Mary was hosted by the students of Grade VIII B began with prayer service through the virtual presentation followed by welcome dance. Chirag A.K. welcomed the gathering.
The guests for the event were Fr. Liguory Crasta OCD and Sr. Juliana Mary A.C. The Joint secretary of the school.
PowerPoint presentation is used to highlight the significance of the day and virtues of Our Lady of Mount Carmel which include being faithful, pure, patient, humble, obedient and helpful. It encourages the students to cultivate virtues like gentle, kind and striving to accomplish their goals in life.
Thereafter students of Grade VIII B entertained the audience with a devotional dance setting the tone for joyous celebration. This was followed by a heart rending song honouring Mother Mary. A skit with the message that whoever wears the scapular will be shielded from all harm and danger by Our Lady of Mount Carmel was presented.
The chief guest Fr. Liguory Crasta graciously gave his loving message, urging the students to inculcate the values of Mother Mary in their life. Also stressed that Mother plays the most important role in everyone’s life. She helps you mentally, physically and she is the one who is supposed to be by our side throughout our life. So we should respect and appreciate our mother.
Sr Juliana Mary A.C., In her talk she expressed that prayer helps us to develop a relationship with God. Just like our parents here on earth, your Heavenly Father wants to hear from us and talk to us. When we pray, God listens. Then He answers our prayers in the form of thoughts, spiritual feelings, scripture, or even the actions of other people.
Grade VIII A Boys performed a mesmerizing dance performance with a message that “Nothing is impossible with God”. Bhoomika and Kalpana of Grade VIII B emceed the programme. Anshul thanked the audience.
