17 December 2022 is a red letter day in the history of St. Thomas English Medium School, Alangar, Moodbidri as it celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its existence. The institution founded by Late. Rev Fr. Denis Castelino in 1996, has progressed by leaps and bounds to be one of the premier institutions of primary & high school education in the vicinity. Its alumni scattered all over the world, are witness to this fact.

The Silver Jubilee celebrations started with the thanksgiving mass at 9.30 am presided over by Msgr Maxim L. Noronha, Vicar General, Diocese of Mangalore and vice-president of Catholic Board of Education and concelebrated by Vicar Forane of Moodbdiri Deanery Rev Fr Onil Dsouza, School Correspondent & Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Church Rev Fr Walter D souza, and other priests. Msgr Maxim Noronha delivered an apt homily on the occasion.

Soon after the mass, Silver Jubilee Flag Hoisting was done and the founder was honoured by the dignitaries.

This was followed by stage programme presided over by Vicar General Msgr Maxim L. Noronha, Chief Guest Shri Umanath Kotyan - MLA Mulki - Moodbidri Constituency, Honourable Guests - Shri Abhayachandra Jain - Former Minister, Govt of Karnataka, Shri Prasad Kumar - President of Moodbidri Town Municipal Council, Shri Ganesh Y - BEO Moodbidri, Mr P.K. Thomas - School Management Committee Member, Shri Sudarshan Bhat - Convener of Silver Jubilee Committee, Mr Nihal Tauro - Indian Idol Sony TV Reality Show Finalist,  Rev Fr Walter D souza - School Correspondent , Mrs Sylvia D sa - Headmistress, Rev Fr Vincent Dsouza & Rev Fr Basil Vas - Former Correspondents ,  were the dignitaries present on the dais.

School Correspondent  Fr Walter Dsouza extended a warm welcome to the guests and the gathering. Vicar General Msgr Maxim L. Noronha inaugurated the silver jubilee ceremony in the presence of the dignitaries. MLA Umanath Kotyan, Shri Prasad Kumar and Shri Ganesh Y delivered their message on the occasion. Headmistress Sylvia Dsa presented the report narrating the 25 years journey of the institution. Former Correspondents Fr Vincent Dsouza  & Fr Basil Vas were honoured for their selfless service to the institution and both conveyed their Silver Jubilee wishes.

Former headmaster / headmistresses, former teaching  / non-teaching staff, parents, students and alumni who have excelled in various fields , were honoured by the dignitaries on the dais.

Msgr Maxim L. Noronha in his presidential speech, lauded the institution in its noble cause of providing education to the children and thereby making them good citizens of the country.

Mr PK Thomas proposed the Vote of Thanks and the dignitaries were presented mementos by the school correspondent Fr Walter Dsouza.

The stage program was followed by a cultural program which saw various amazing and mesmerising performances by the school students.

Indeed it turned out to be a joyous day for all, the sweet memories of which will be cherished forever.
