Location :

Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church Nithyadar Nagar is situated at a distance of 11 kms from Mangalore and is surrounded by Permannur, Ranipura and Panir parishes.

History :

Fr C.T. Sequeira, the parish priest of Milagres-Mangalore had visualized in 1977 a colony of 100 houses for low-income groups in the parish. The Milagres Housing Society, Mangalore was registered on December 19, 1978. On the occasion of the tri-centenary of the parish, the MHSM was looking for a suitable place to carry out its project of a self-contained suburt. Mrs Josephine Mascarenhas of Sturrock Road, Mangalore donated 12½ acres of land at Permannur to the society. The construction of the houses on this plot started in 1983. The church, the presbytery, belfry and the cemetery were done during the time of Rev. Fr Denis Moras Prabhu as the parish priest of Milagres-Mangalore. The church and the presbytery were inaugurated on April 2, 1991. Since the gift was made in the name of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour the church was dedicated to her and the area was named Nithyadarnagar. It was erected into a parish on May 17, 1993 with Fr Alban D’Souza as the first parish priest.
