Surathkal, Sep 14 : On the occasion of Nativity Feast, ICYM unit of Sacred Heart Church , Surathkal conducted a variety of competitions for the parishioners. The variety of competitions hosted by ICYM Surathkal included MARIAN HYMNS (Singing competition), for students of class 1st to 4th, COLLAGE MAKING Competition for of class 5th to 7th, KOLUM (Rangoli competition) for students of class 8th to 10th. These competitions were conducted on September 7, 2024 after Novena at Surathkal church premises.

Very Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres Vicar Forane of Surathkal Deanery and Director of ICYM Surathkal, Ms Dealle Dsouza, Singer and a part of “Blue Angels Choir”, ICYM President Mr Ajith Dsouza, ICYM Secretary Ms Daina Dsouza were present on the dais.

Mr Ajith Dsouza ICYM Surathkal President, welcomed all the dignitaries and people gathered in the formal program and gave a brief citation, Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres addressed the participants with his few words and congratulated them for participating.

The competitions took place after the formal program. A total of 13 individuals participated in the singing competition with the theme “Mother Mary related songs”, the collage competition consisted of 5 teams, with each team having 3 members with the theme of “Anti-Drug Awareness” and 2 teams, each containing 2 members in Rangoli competition with the theme “Nature”.

1st category
First prize: Vianna Pearl Dsouza
Second prize: Flavia Monterio
Third prize: Rishon Smit Dsouza

2nd category
First prize: Jennifer Florine coelho
Second prize: Ria Ann Mascarenhas
Third prize: Adria Coelho

The winners list of Collage competition as follows:

First Prize: Team 4 - Liyan Fernandes , Rishon DSouza , Wilston Correa
Second Prize: Team 2 - Vivan Dsouza , Rishal Dsouza , Denson Dsouza
Third Prize: Team 1 - Jovita Dsouza, Ashmita Dsouza, Swancy Serrao

As only two teams participated in Kolum (Rangoli competition), a consolation prize will be given to the participants in recognize the efforts of the participating teams.
The recipients of the consolation prizes for Rangoli competition are as follows:
Team 1 - Noel Dsouza , Darwin
Team 2 - Ethan Monis , Sienna Pereira

In addition to the on-site events, ICYM Surathkal also organized an online competition, which included Althar Soboi (Altar Decoration) and Kutma Sanghi Tasveer (A picture with the family while having Nove Jovan). This event aimed to encourage the community in a creative expression of faith and devotion.

The competition was conducted via WhatsApp. Participants submitted their photos through the messaging platform, which allowed for remote and accessible participation.
