Moodbidri, Aug 3 : St Francis Xavier Parish , Saverapura, Murkoth Palke belonging to Moodbidri Deanery wore a festive look on 1st August 2017, on the occasion of Silver Jubilee celebration of foundation of Chapel / Parish and inauguration of the newly built Parish House by Redemptorist Community of Nithyadhar Nivas, Alangar.

At 9.45 a.m. in the morning, Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore Diocese along with MLA Abhayachandra Jain inaugurated the newly built road of the church. This was followed by Presbytery inauguration by V. Rev. Fr. Ivel Mendanha, CSsR, Vice-Provincial Superior, Vice Province of Majella, Mumbai.

Bishop Aloysius then blessed the Presbytery and chapel located inside the house.

This was followed by Solemn Jubilee High mass where Bishop Aloysius was the main celebrant and nearly 40 priests of Moodbidri Deanery and many Redemptorist guest priests concelebrated. Parishioners of Saverapura actively participated in the liturgy and gave thanks to the Lord for the fruitful 25 years.

This was followed by stage programme presided over by Bishop Aloysius. Other guests were V. Rev. Fr. Ivel Mendanha, CSsR, Vice-Provincial Superior, Vice Province of Majella, Mumbai, Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira - Dean of Moodbidri Deanery, Parish Priest Fr. Rakesh Mathias, Redemptorist Rector Fr. Eugene DSilva, Founder Parish Priest Fr. Mathias Pereira, Belvai Panchayat President Bhaskara Acharya, Parish Council Vice-president Vincent D'Souza and Secretary Severene Crasta.

Fr. Ivel, Fr. Paul, Fr. Mathias and Bhaskara Acharya in their message congratulated parishioners on the occasion of Silver Jubilee.

The man responsible for the development of Saverapura, Fr. Eugene D'Silva was honoured with title "Saverapuracho Suryo". Bishop was also honoured on this occasion. In his message, Bishop lauded the efforts of Redemptorist Priests in the overall development of Saverapura.

Parish Priest Fr. Rakesh welcomed the guests, Vincent D'Souza proposed vote of thanks. Vishal Culaco and Janet Rodrigues compered the programme.

Programe concluded with grand jubilee lunch prepared by parishioners.
