Mangaluru, Feb 26 : Catechism day was celebrated at St Francis Xavier Church, Bejai on Sunday, 23rd February, 2025. The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist. Rev. Fr Johnson L.Sequeira celebrated the Eucharist and Rev.Dr  J.B. Saldanha and Rev. Fr Norman Mathias concelebrated.

After the Eucharist, cultural and prize distribution programme was held at Lourdes Central School Silver Jubilee Hall. Rev.Dr John Baptist Saldanha - Parish Priest; Fr Norman Mathias - Assistant Parish Priest; Fr Johnson L.Sequeira, Principal, Lourdes Central School; Sr Severine, Superior, and other sisters of Angela Convent; Br Jayanth and Br Jeevan, Sunday ministry seminarians; Mr Ashok Pinto, President and Mrs Avitha Pinto, Secretary of Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad, Mr Ivan Mascarenhas, Catechism Co-ordinator; catechism teachers and parents of the catechism students were present for the programme.

The programme began with the Lord’s prayer. Children from classI to class X presented beautiful skits, dance, action songs and tableaus based on the parables and other narrations from the Bible. The cultural programme was well appreciated by the parishioners present. Ms Rewa Dcosta, an outgoing student of YCS shared her experience of being a catechism student for the past 12 years. 
Rev.Dr J.B.Saladanha felicitated the Catechism teachers with a gift and thanked them for their service through Catechetical ministry. The students who have topped the exam and those who have scored above 90% were felicitated with prizes. Also, those who were regular for the catechism classes were honoured with a gift.

The Parish Priest appreciated the students for their exhibition of talents.He even thanked the seminarians, Br Jayanth and Br Jeevan for their services at Bejai parish during this catechetical year and wished them well for their priestly formation. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks and by singing a hymn in honour of the parish patron. At the end, children were given a box of snacks and an ice-cream as refreshments.
