Mangaluru, Feb 25 : The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Jeppu Unit commenced its Silver Jubilee Year (25th year) with a grand and spiritually enriching celebration at St. Joseph's Church on February 9, 2025. The event began with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass at 8:00 AM, presided over by Rev. Fr Ronald Serrao. The Eucharistic celebration brought together ICYM members, parishioners, and well-wishers, marking the beginning of a milestone year for the organization.

The formal inauguration ceremony took place in the evening at 6:00 PM on the church grounds, attended by distinguished clergy, dignitaries, and community members. The program commenced with a soulful prayer song by the choir, followed by a captivating welcome dance performed by children, creating an atmosphere of joy and reverence.

The stage program began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the esteemed dignitaries, signifying the commencement of the Silver Jubilee celebrations.

The event was graced by prominent guests, including the Administrator of St. Joseph's Seminary and Chief Guest, Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto, ICYM Mangalore Diocese Director Rev. Fr Ashwin Cardoza, ECD Director Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Parish Priest and ICYM Jeppu Unit Director Rev. Fr Maxim D'Souza, Infant Mary's Convent Superior Sr. Sylvia Fernandes, Co-operative Mangalore Municipal Corporation Mrs. Jacintha Alfred, Parish Pastoral Council Vice President Mr. Olwin Miranda, Parish Pastoral Council Secretary Mrs. Marita D'Souza, ICYM Animators Mr. Michael D'Souza and Mrs. Shalet D'Souza, along with ECD President Ms. Suzana Ferrao and other members of ECD.

ICYM President Mr. Joel Alfred officially welcomed the gathering, followed by Secretary Ms. Reshma Penha's presentation of the annual report, highlighting the organization's achievements and contributions. A key moment of the evening was the unveiling of the ICYM Silver Jubilee logo, symbolizing the beginning of a year-long celebration dedicated to faith, service, and youth empowerment.

In his keynote address, Chief Guest Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto commended ICYM's pivotal role in shaping young leaders and fostering community service. Rev. Fr Maxim D'Souza, Director of ICYM Jeppu Unit, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the significance of youth engagement in the Church and society.

A special felicitation ceremony was held to honor five distinguished members—Ms. Nerrisa Noronha, Ms. Nisha Aranha, Mrs. Deepsika Fernandes, Mr. Tony Ferros, and Mr. Elvis Lobo—for their outstanding dedication and service to ICYM.

Additionally, musicians and choreographers who contributed their time and expertise to the program were presented with tokens of appreciation as a gesture of gratitude for their invaluable efforts.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by ICYM Joint Secretary Ms. Jeevitha D'Souza, expressing gratitude to everyone who played a role in making the event a success.

Following the formal proceedings, the evening came alive with a vibrant cultural and musical night featuring performances by 15 talented groups. The event was hosted by Ms. Nerrisa Noronha and Ms. Nisha Aranha, who skillfully led the proceedings as the Masters of Ceremony.

The celebration concluded with a group photograph, capturing the spirit of unity, faith, and joy among all attendees.

The inauguration of ICYM Jeppu Unit's Silver Jubilee Year was a momentous occasion, setting the stage for a year filled with meaningful activities, leadership initiatives, and community engagement.
