Omzoor, Feb 24, 2025 : The Annual Catechism Day was meaningfully celebrated at Holy Family Church, Omzoor, on Sunday, February 23, with the eucharistic celebration at 8.00 am. Fr William Menezes, the parish priest, celebrated the Holy Eucharist. In the beginning catechism children and teachers brought Holy Bibles of different languages and placed them on the altar. Fr William Menezes, in his homily, highlighted the importance of catechism to children.

The catechism day prize distribution and the cultural programme put forth by the students was held at 9.30 am in the Holy Family Sabhabhavana . Children from different classes performed various value based cultural programmes. Mrs Reshma welcomed the dignitaries. Sonel Pinto, Melora Braggs and Lavitha shared their experience of being a catechism student. Sr Theresa Madtha the coordinator of the Sunday catechism presented a brief annual report of the catechism classes.

Fr William Menezes, the parish priest, delivered the message to the parents and the gathering regarding the importance of faith and the gospel values that needs to be instilled in the children. He thanked all the catechism teachers for their selfless service to the church. Arther D Souza the vice president, Daffny Lewis the secretary of the parish pastoral council, Elroy Saldanha the co-ordinator of 18 pastoral commissions, Br.Denzil Rodrigues, Sr Luciana superior of St Charles convent were present for the programme. Prizes were given to the children for their good performance in the catechism exams and for securing 100 percent attendance. Mrs Pauline Vas proposed vote of thanks. Lavita Pereira compered the entire programme. At the end refreshments were served to the children.
