Mogarnad Parish has a rich history dating back to when it was part of the Bantwal Church. The Church was established in 1775. The Parish is dedicated to Mother Mary (Mother of God).
As per the history pages of Milagres Church (https://milagres.church/full-history/), the present roads including the Mangalore-Bantwal highway never existed at the time of the Tippu's captivity of churches in 1784. That is why the ancient churches were established close to the rivers like the Rosario, Milagres, Omzoor, Kulur, Mulki, Bantwal, Agrar and Mogarnad as they could be reached by sailing in local boats. All these churches were destroyed by Tippu Sultan in 1784 and were rebuilt later after returning from captivity.
