Report : Lester Menezes, PRO  & Sony Neha D’Souza, Secretary – ICYM Pezar Deanery

Pezar, Jan 19 : The St. Simon Deanery Pezar organized a memorable sports event on January 12, 2025, bringing together the youth of the Deanery through a cricket tournament for men and a throw ball tournament for women. The event began with a prayer song by the ICYM Bajpe unit, followed by a welcoming speech by Josvita Dsouza - President of ICYM Pezar Deanery. Dignitaries on stage included Rev. Fr. Vivan Nishanth Rodrigues (Director of ICYM Pezar Deanery), Ms. Frenita Tauro (Animator of ICYM Pezar Deanery), Sony Neha Dsouza (Secretary ICYM Pezar Deanery)and Sagon Noronha (Sports Secretary of ICYM Pezar Deanery). The tournament was officially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Vivan Nishan Rodrigues with a symbolic six-hit. Other Guests including Rev. Dr. Fr. Ronald Cutinha - Parish Priest of Bajpe unit, Rev. Fr. Ashwin Cardoza (Director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese), and Rev. Fr. Rudolf Ravi Desa (Vicar Forane of Pezar Deanery), among others, graced the event. Mr. Winston Sequeira (President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese), Ms. Ashlin Dsouza (Secretary of ICYM Mangalore Diocese) and Ms. Riana D’Cunha (Vice President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese and Representative of ICYM Pezar Deanery). The event was successful because of the generous support of JJ Sounds, Gurpur, Ronald Fernandes, Lawrence Cutinha, and Asunta Studios and all the other sponsors. Throughout the day, "Man of the Match" awards were presented.

The concluding ceremony featured speeches from the Chief Guest, Mr. Ronald Fernandes (Vice President of Premude Panchayat), and other notable leaders, emphasizing the importance of leadership and sportsmanship. Tokens of gratitude were presented to various individuals, including Umpires Sanjay Decrus and Samson,Referee Kishor Sir,Scorer Melroy D'Souza, Bantwal and Commentary Kiran, Allipade.

The event concluded with the ICYM Diocesan anthem and the event was hosted by MC Venisha Saldanha. Lester Menezes (Media Representative of ICYM Pezar Deanery) & Joston Fernandes (Red Drop Representative of the ICYM Pezar Deanery) captured the moments of the day.
