Shamboor - Bantwal, Jan 8 : The Shamboor Premier League (SPL) - Season 1, organised by the League Committee in an association with ICYM Shamboor, was held with great enthusiasm and success on January 5, 2025, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church grounds, Shamboor. This much-awaited event was a celebration of sportsmanship, talent, and community unity.

The event was inaugurated by esteemed guests, including ICYM Director Fr. Santhosh Dsouza, Animator Melwin Pais, President Roy Pashan, Secretary Leediya Lobo, Catholic Sabha President Herald Monteiro , and Sports Secretary Raidon Veigas, whose presence motivated and inspired all the participants.

The league featured four dynamic teams:

• Sparkle Boys
• Thunder Strikers
• United Brothers
• Net Attackers

The teams competed in an exhilarating series of matches, showcasing their dedication and skills. After a thrilling finale, Sparkle Boys emerged as the champions, while Thunder Strikers secured the runners-up position.

To recognize outstanding individual performances, the following awards were presented:

• All-Rounder: Avil Lobo (Thunder Strikers)
• Best Defence: Praveen Veigas (Net Attackers)
• Best Attacker: Joshua Baptist (Sparkle Boys)
• Best Setter: Roshan Crasta (Sparkle Boys)

The parishioners and supporters applauded the talent, sportsmanship, and dedication displayed by all the players. The tournament brought together the community, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.

The success of SPL - Season 1 was made possible by the hard work and meticulous planning of the Volleyball League Committee, ensuring a well-organised and enjoyable event.

This memorable league not only highlighted the importance of sports in bringing people together but also strengthened the bonds within the community.

They eagerly await the next season and look forward to more such exciting events in the future!
