Loretto: Dec 14 : Loreto English Medium High School celebrated its Annual Day program on December 13, 2024, with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The event commenced with the arrival of esteemed guests, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of the school band.
The program began with a serene and beautiful prayer dance. Gracing the occasion were Rev. Fr. Francis Crasta (Correspondent), Rev. Fr. Peter Gonsalves (Chief Guest and Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium School, Bondel), Mr. Cyprian Dsouza (Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council), Rev. Fr. Jason Vijay Monis (School Principal), Sr. Idoline Rodrigues (Headmistress of Loreto Aided Kannada Medium Higher Primary School), Mrs. Anitha Shalini Pais (Vice Principal), and Mr. Sachin Noronha (P.T.A Vice President). Student leaders, including Head Boy Mast. Joshil Prinston Pinto, Head Girl Sanvi Acharya, and S.P.L. Ananya, also shared the dais, adding youthful pride to the event.
Ms. Leora Dsouza of Grade X extended a warm and gracious welcome to the gathering. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp symbolized the spread of knowledge and enlightenment.
The School Principal, Rev. Fr. Jason Vijay Monis, and Headmistress Sr. Idoline presented the Annual Report, highlighting the school's achievements, milestones, and activities for the academic year. The audience beamed with pride as awards of excellence were distributed to honor the S.S.L.C. students' accomplishments in academics, sports, the National Spell Bee, and Karate.
The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Peter Gonsalves, inspired the audience with his message, emphasizing the importance of teaching children life skills such as time management, responsibility, empathy, kindness, and compassion. He encouraged nurturing these values to build a caring and disciplined community.
The event also recognized and honored donors for their generosity and contributions toward the school’s development.
Rev. Fr. Francis Crasta delivered the Presidential Address, comparing the school to four strong pillars. He emphasized that only when these pillars are firmly established can an educational institution truly thrive. He urged parents to take an active role in their children’s education, highlighting the significance of value-based learning that integrates knowledge with moral principles. He also shared concerns about the growing reliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI), urging students to develop their natural thinking abilities, creativity, and critical reasoning skills.
The event concluded with a vibrant array of cultural performances, reflecting the creativity and dedication of the students. A heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Prathiksha, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event. The program was efficiently emceed by students Mast. Prineeth, Ms. Vaishnavi, Ms. Chinthana, and Mast. Preeth. The celebration ended on a high note with the singing of the School Anthem.
