Mangaluru, Oct 27 , 2024 : In a collaborative effort to address the growing issue of drug abuse among youth, Shubadha Society and Jeevandhara Trust organized an enlightening program at Sacred Heart School ground at Kulshekar on October 26, attended by a large gathering of students from Sacred Heart English and Kannada Medium Primary and High School, along with faculty members and Sr. Reena Juliet, Superior of Santa Cruz Convent.

The program began with a solemn prayer led by the students of Sacred Heart High School, setting a reflective tone for the event. Sr. Iline co-ordinator of Jeevandhara Trust extended a warm welcome to all present, emphasizing the importance of awareness among youth in curbing the dangers of drug abuse.

A thought-provoking skit on the consequences of drug addiction, performed by children from Infant Mary Hostel, left the audience visibly moved. Through powerful scenes and emotive acting, the skit highlighted the challenges and pitfalls young people face and the importance of making wise choices.

The highlight of the program was an insightful speech by the Chief Guest, Sr. Flavia Wilma, Secretary of Shubadha Society, Suralpady. She spoke passionately on the dangers and long-lasting impacts of substance abuse, urging students to be aware, make responsible choices, and support each other. Sr. Flavia also led the students in an oath-taking ceremony, wherein they pledged to lead a life free of drugs and to spread awareness among their peers.

Sr. Cynthia Headmistress of Sacred Heart school skillfully served as the MC, keeping the program flowing seamlessly. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a student representative, expressing gratitude to all organizers, participants, and guests for their involvement in this important initiative.

The program served as a strong reminder of the perils of drug abuse and empowered young minds with knowledge and resolve to lead a healthy, responsible life.
