Mangaluru, Sep 28 : ICYM Episcopal City Deanery organized "Illuminate 2K24" event for the youth of Episcopal City Deanery on 22 September 2024 at St Sebastian Centenary Auditorium, Bendur from 8:30AM onwards. The event began with a Prayer song led by the Deanery Executive members.

The President of the program Rev Fr Walter Dsouza – Parish Priest St Sebastian Church Bendur, Chief guest Rev Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza – Director ICYM Central Council Mangalore Diocese, Rev Fr Lawrence Cutinha – Director ICYM Episcopal City Deanery, Mr Vinod Dsouza and Mrs Patsy Britto – Vice President and Secretary of Bendur Parish Pastoral Parishad, Clarin Dsouza – ICYM Diocesan Regional Representative and Episcopal City Deanery Representative, Suzannha Ferrao – President ICYM Episcopal City Deanery, Muriel Mascarenhas – Secretary ICYM Episcopal City Deanery, Sonali Rodrigues – Convenor Illuminate 2K24 and Vice President ICYM Episcopal City Deanery were present on the dais.

The event was inaugurated by the dignitaries on the dais. Suzannha Ferrao – President ICYM Episcopal City Deanery welcomed the guests and the gathering. Muriel Mascarenhas – Secretary ICYM Episcopal City Deanery read the annual report of 2023-2024. The Executive members of Episcopal City Deanery of 2023-2024 were felicitated for their service to the Deanery. The Executive members of Episcopal City Deanery of 2024-2025 were given badges and the deanery council members were given roses. Mishal Clerita Lobo, former executive member of Episcopal City Deanery was felicitated as she is united by the pure bond of marriage.

Rev Fr Walter Dsouza and Rev Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza addressed the youth and congratulated the youth for attending the event and wished everyone the best.

Inaugural program ended with vote of thanks by Sonali Rodrigues – Convenor Illuminate 2K24 and Vice President ICYM Episcopal City Deanery.

V. Rev Fr Bonaventure Nazareth – Vicar Forane Episcopal City Deanery and Parish Priest of Milagres Parish visited during the event.

The ICYM ECD Executive members presented a flash mob that was followed by an ice breaking session and games for the day were conducted by Jaison Dsouza - ICYM Diocesan Regional Representative and Lavisha Dsouza – Former Lady Vice President ICYM Central Council.

Sonali Rodrigues – Convenor of Illuminate 2K24 introduced the Resource Persons for the day. Rev Fr Arun Lobo – Director of Shanthi Kiran Counseling Center and Director and Counselor of Friendship House De-addiction centre Talapady took a session on Stress management and Rev Fr Alwyn Richard Dsouza – Director Family Life Service Center took a session on Relationships and Inter Caste Marriage.

Rev Fr Robin Santhumayor – Assistant Parish Priest was the main celebrant for the Eucharistic Celebration. ECD Executive members conducted the liturgy and brought offertory.

Post lunch youth were given opportunity to exhibit their talent with variety competition – Sparkle with a theme Family that Prays together stays together. Units of the Deanery actively participated.

Valedictory ceremony commenced at 4:00PM. Rev Fr Lawrence Cutinha – Director ICYM Episcopal City Deanery, Renita and Alita judges for Sparkle -variety competition, Winston Sequeira - President ICYM Central Council, Ashlin Dsouza – General Secretary ICYM Central Council, Clarin Dsouza – ICYM Diocesan Regional Representative and Episcopal City Deanery Representative, Suzannha Ferrao – President ICYM Episcopal City Deanery, Muriel Mascarenhas – Secretary ICYM Episcopal City Deanery, Sonali Rodrigues – Convenor Illuminate 2K24 and Vice President ICYM Episcopal City Deanery were present on the dais. ICYM Central Council members were present during the valedictory program. Sparkle judge shared her experience. Winston Sequeira – President ICYM Central Council addressed the youth. Rev Fr Lawrence Cutinha spoke a few words. Muriel Mascarenhas – ICYM Episcopal City Deanery Secretary rendered the vote of thanks. Suzannha Ferrao – ICYM Episcopal City Deanery President thanked the Executive members. The event was compered by Neha Dsouza – Joint Secretary ICYM Episcopal City Deanery.

Prizes for Melodies of Patriotism online singing competition conducted on the occasion of Independence day were given. Sparkle – variety completion was won by Bendur Parish and Kulur Parish was the runner up. Trophy for highest number of registration and participation in Illuminate 2K124 was bagged by Bendur Parish. Event ended with a group photo and baila. Total of 110 youth participated in the Illuminate 2K24.
