Vittla, Aug 22 : The Indian Catholic Youth Movement, St. John Paul II Vittla Deanery, in association with the Vittla Unit, organized a one-day youth gathering, "Yuva Ekthar" for the youth of Vittla Deanery on August 18, 2024, at Century Cemetery Church Hall Vittla.

The event began with a stage program featuring several dignitaries: Rev. Fr. Ivan Michael Rodrigues parish priest Vittla; Vitla Parish Council Vice President Mr. Vijay Pais; Secretary and ICYM Animator Mr. Thomas Mascarenhas; Ekvees Ayog Coordinator Mr. Louis Mascarenhas; ICYM Vitla Unit President Mr. Wilson D'Souza; St. John Paul II Vittal Deanery President Mr.Prithesh Lobo; and Secretary Rithesh Lobo.

The program commenced with a solemn prayer led by the youth. ICYM Vitla Deanery President Mr.Prithesh Lobo welcomed the gathering, extending a warm reception to all attendees.

The inauguration was marked by the ceremonial pulling of a banner, officially launching the event. Following this, Rev. Fr. Ivan Michael Rodrigues delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging the youth to actively engage in community activities and personal growth. His address emphasized the vital role young people play in shaping a positive future and urged them to embrace their responsibilities with enthusiasm and commitment.

Secretary Rithesh Lobo expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved.

Guest Speaker Peter Anthony Pinto delivered an engaging talk on financial aspects at Yuva Ekthar 2024, emphasizing the importance of financial planning and budgeting for personal stability. He highlighted the benefits of early savings, smart investments, providing practical tips for managing finances effectively and also stressed the importance of financial discipline and future planning, including retirement and insurance. His insights left the youth with valuable tools to make informed financial decisions in their lives.

The ICYM executive committee members led an action song that energized the participants and fostered a sense of unity. Additionally, Jasmine Veigas conducted various games designed to promote teamwork and leadership skills.

The event was further distinguished by the presence of ICYM Mangalore Diocese IPP Mr.Mithesh D'Souza, Past President Mr.Jaison Crasta, Mr. Anil John Sequeira, and Past Secretary Vishma D'Souza. Their participation added to the significance of Yuva Ekthar 2024 and highlighted the support and involvement of the broader ICYM community.

Holy Eucharistic mass was specially offered for all the youth present, led by Fr. Naveen Prakash Pinto, Principal Of Deva Matha English Medium School Amtoor, Accompanied by Dc. Melwyn Dsouza and Br Joel at Our lady of Dolours church, Vittla. The Liturgy was conducted by the Deanery Executive, Who led the congregation in a spiritually uplifting service.

Rev. Fr. Richard Dsouza, the second speaker delivered an insightful session on the role of communication in today's world. He highlighted the dual nature of communication and media, stressing its potential to both connect and divide. Practical advice on Discerning the content consumed and shared, and the importance of using media responsibly.

After the session, participants were engaged in group wise games, fostering teamwork and healthy competition among the youth.

The evening featured a stage program with dignitaries, on the dais.
Prizes were awarded for group games, adding excitement and motivation for active participation.

The youths of Mogarnad unit were recognized for their remarkable participation , winning the highest attendance championship trophy with 46 out of 48 members present.

Mr.Rithesh Lobo, the secretary Delivered vote of thanks. The day concluded with the singing of the ICYM Theme song, bringing the event to an unifying end. Evening refreshments were provided.

The event was attended by a total 130 participants, reflecting strong interest and engagement from the deanery youths.

Overall ,the event was a great success, providing spiritual enrichment, valuable insights, and a platform for the youth to connect and grow together.
