Mogarnad, Aug 14 : On August 4, 2024, the Deva Matha Youth Movement (ICYM) hosted “Y2O – Youth Towards Opportunity,” a special event for the youth of Mogarnad Parish, at Deva Matha Sabha Bhavan. The goal was to inspire and educate the attendees.

The day started with a flash mob performed by members of DMYM, entertaining the parishioners. Breakfast was provided as the participants registered. The formal program began at 10 am, featuring important guests like Rev. Fr. Anil Canute Dmello, Director of DMYM and Parish Priest of Mother of God Church; Rev. Fr. Naveen Prakash Pinto, Headmaster of Deva Matha English Medium School; Dr. Mona Mendonca, Assistant Professor at St. Aloysius College; and Mr. Santhosh Dsouza, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mr. Wilfred Lobo, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs. Emiliana Dcunha, Coordinator of all church commissions, Mr. Prashant Lewis, Animator of DMYM , Mr. Avit Premson Lobo, Red Drop Coordinator of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Mr. Wilson Pinto, Social Cause Secretary of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Mr Prithesh Lobo, President of St John Paul II Deanery, Mr. Melroy Dsouza, President of DMYM and Ms. Falvita Priya Pinto the secretary.

Mr. Roystan Lasrado was the host, and the prayer team led everyone in a prayer. Mr. Melroy Dsouza, President of DMYM, welcomed the attendees. Fr. Anil and other guests officially opened the program, encouraging the youth to take such opportunities to build their confidence. Ms. Flavita Priya Pinto, Secretary of DMYM, thanked the gathering.

Dr. Mona Mendonca led the first session, discussing personality development and how to find and use opportunities. Mr. Royal Praveen Dsouza, an Assistant Professor at St. Aloysius College and Founder of Siona Solutions, led the next session on AI and Cyber Security.

A felicitation program was held to honor Mr. Avit Premson Lobo for being elected as the Red Drop Representative of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Central Council Mangalore diocese and Ms. Melvita Christal Pereira for being elected as the Lady Vice President of the St. John Paul II Deanery. The birthday celebration was held for Mr Prashant Lewis, the animator of DMYM, Mogarnad.

After lunch, the attendees were divided into seven groups to participate in various activities that promote teamwork and leadership. Ninety youths, including Br. Joel and Br. Ashwin, took part in the event.

The Y2O event was a big success, giving the youth a chance to learn, interact, and explore new opportunities. It encouraged them to be more confident and proactive in their lives.
