Moodbidri, Aug 12, 2024 : Corpus Christi Church in Moodbidri celebrated the Altar Servers' Feast with a solemn Eucharistic celebration on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 7:30 am. The event saw the participation of 73 children, aged between 8 and 15 years, who took part in the service with deep devotion.
The celebration began with the recitation of the Rosary, setting a reverent tone for the day. During the Mass, the children paid homage to their patron saint, St. John Berchmans, and actively participated in the liturgy, demonstrating their dedication to their roles.
Following the homily, Rev. Fr. Onil D’Souza, the church's spiritual director, blessed 13 new members who expressed their commitment to serving as altar servers. Among the new members, eight were girls and five were boys. Fr. Onil led the children in reciting an oath dedicated to their new role and provided them with instructional books to guide them in their service.
Fr Onil thanked the teachers Mr John Menezes, Mrs Nancy Dsilva and Mrs Veena Mascarenhas for their guidance in training the young altar servers.
After the Mass, all altar servers were treated to breakfast, marking the end of a spiritually enriching celebration. The event not only strengthened the faith of the young participants but also reinforced the importance of their service to the church.
