Cordel - Mangaluru, July 28 : On July 21, 2024, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) unit and parish Yuva Aayog convened a youth gathering named "Yuva Sakath Zana Zavya" at 8:00 AM in the Mini Hall of Holy Cross Church, Cordel.

The event commenced with a warm welcome and refreshments, followed by the official program at 8:30 AM. A prayer song led by YCS youth initiated the proceedings, and Dahlen Dias welcomed the guests and participants.

Rev. Fr. Clifford Fernandes, the Parish Priest, along with Assistant Parish Priests Fr. Paul Sebastian D'Souza and Fr. Vijay Monteiro, Parish Pastoral Council President Mrs. Ruth Castelino, Secretary Mr. Anil Dsa, and ICYM President Vikas Rodrigues graced the occasion. Fr. Clifford Fernandes offered words of encouragement to the youth.

Evita D'Souza introduced the speaker to the gathering. The keynote speaker for the day was Dr. Lavina Noronha, Director of Ave Maria Palliative Care, Vamanjoor, and Susheg Jivith Dementia Center, Manjanakatte, as well as Coordinator of Mangaluru Suicide Lifeline.

Dr. Lavina Noronha highlighted the importance of stress management and the significance of a happy, healthy lifestyle. She emphasized the detrimental effects of alcohol and drug consumption, underscoring the importance of abstinence from these substances. Her insightful presentation provided the youth with valuable tools and knowledge to navigate the challenges of modern life and make informed choices about their well-being.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ICYM President Vikas Rodrigues.
