Belthangady, June 26 : The executive committee of ICYM Belthangady deanery held a unit visit and Vana Mahotsav on 23rd June 2024. The main intention of this was to understand how the ICYM is functioning in each unit and to identify the challenges they are facing.
The event was guided by Fr Praveen D'Souza - Director of ICYM Belthangady Deanery, and began with a small interaction session where the president or secretary of each unit welcomed everyone. Following this, the Deanery executive committee members interacted with the youth of the unit, discussing various topics. The unit presidents then read out their yearly agendas and the executive committee members listed out their unit plans to ensure everyone is aware of the upcoming activities in all the 10 units. Fr. Praveen D'Souza addressed the youths, providing ideas on how to attract more members and strengthen the unity of ICYM within the units. The session concluded with a vote of thanks rendered by Monal Jiya Rasquinha, the secretary of ICYM Belthangady Deanery.
Post the session, the Vana Mahotsav was celebrated in each unit by planting a sapling, brought by the ICYM Belthangady Deanery. It was decided by the executive committee members that by the year's end the units will be revisited to check the growth of plants and then select the best unit and honor them.
This event was very successful, with more than 10 youth participating in each unit. This high level of participation highlighted the enthusiasm and commitment of the youth towards environmental conservation and the betterment of their communities.
