Belthangady, June 22 : To lead an association and reach greater heights, it's important that the leaders in the council know each other better. With this intention, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Belthangady Deanery, along with the Nainad Unit, organized a stay camp on the 15th and 16th of June, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Nainad for the Deanery council.

The event commenced with an official inaugural ceremony. The honored guests included Fr. Anil Avild Lobo, Parish Priest of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Nainad; Fr. Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese; Fr. Praveen D'Souza, Director of ICYM Belthangady Deanery; Lancy D'Souza and Enas Rodrigues, Vice President and Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, Nainad; Moly D'Souza, Animator of ICYM Nainad Unit; Supreeth Fernandes and Monal Jiya Rasquinha, President and Secretary of ICYM Belthangady Deanery; Wilson Rodrigues and Alen D'Souza, President and Secretary of ICYM Nainad Unit took their seats on the stage, and the host, Roydon Lasrado, formally began the proceedings.

Supreeth Fernandes welcomed everyone with floral greetings. The honored guests on the dais officially inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Following this, Fr. Anil Avild Lobo, the resource person for the evening, was invited to enlighten the gathering. Fr. Ashwin Cardoza and Fr. Praveen D'Souza then addressed the youths present. The vice president of the Nainad Parish Council shared his thoughts and aspirations with the youth. The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Wilson Rodrigues.

After the inaugural ceremony, Fr. Anil Avild Lobo conducted a session for the youths on maintaining the spirit of ICYM. He divided the participants into groups and combined theoretical topics with engaging games and activities, making the session interactive and enjoyable. The session was followed by adoration. This time of peaceful and holy reflection included prayers for the unity and team spirit of ICYM Belthangady Deanery position holders.

Dinner was served, followed by a campfire. All present were given candles. The deanery executive committee members were called forward to light their candles and then share the light with others. The senior-most ICYM members shared a few insightful thoughts about their ICYM journey. The evening concluded with a lively session of music by DJ Conrad.

The next morning began with a Eucharistic celebration led by Fr. Ashwin Cardoza and Fr. Praveen D'Souza. This was followed by the Deanery Council meeting, in which the upcoming deanery programs were discussed. As a gesture towards a better Earth, Vanamahotsava was celebrated by planting saplings near the Nainad Church Hall. Afterward, breakfast was served, marking the end of the stay camp.

Around 65 youths were present. The event was a blend of spiritual, educational, and recreational activities, leaving a lasting impact on all participants.
