Mangaluru, March 18 : Fuddar Prathistan (R.) a trust working for the betterment of Canara Konkani Catholic Community organized 'Fuddar Prathistan Puraskar-2024' for the toppers and achievers of Mangalore and Udupi Dioceses on Sunday 17 March 2024 at Milagres Jubilee Hall Mangalore. 341 Catholic students excelled in SSLC, PUC, Graduation, Post graduation, various competitive examinations and in Sports at National and State level were felicitated during the program.
Rev Fr John Baptist Saldanha, PRO of Mangalore Diocese and the Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. Nigel Periera, President of Fuddar Prathistan presided over the program. Dr Alwyn DSa, Controller of Examinations, St Aloysius Deemed to be University, Managlore was the Chief Guest. Alwyn DSouza, President of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh and Santhosh Cornelio, President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh were the guests of honour.
Rev Fr John Baptist Saldanha in his inaugural address congratulated all the talented students and their parents on receiving the recognition. He spoke about the importance of education and motivated the students to develop the courage to stand out for the community.
Dr Alwyn DSa, Chief Guest of the program, congratulated the Fuddar Prathistan Trust for organizing a beautiful program to felicitate the achievers and for motivating them. In his keynote address he emphasized on the need of government officials from the Catholic community and encouraged the students to try answering various competitive examinations conducted at the state and central levels and not to give up until they succeed.
Nigel Periera in his presidential address applauded the students and their parents on receiving the honour. In his talk he mentioned that in the past 18 years of Fuddar Prathistan Puraskar, for the first time 341 students are being felicitated at a time. He thanked John DSilva Mumbai, the founder President for his good will as President for the past 15 years and Jerald DCosta for his service as President for the past three years. He expressed his words of gratitude to all the office bearers, trustees and the generous donors who contributed financially for this event, without which it was impossible to be a successful one.
On behalf of the felicitated students, Leesha Lobo Miyar who has secured second place in PUC Science, Dr Glenisha DSouza Permude who has secured first rank in Master of Physiotherapy and Dr Joshmitha DSouza Nithyadhar a PhD awardee shared their success story and expressed their gratitude to the organizers.
Fr Walter DMello the Vice President welcomed the gathering. Vivid DSouza the secretary rendered the vote of thanks. Roshan DSouza and Vinny DSouza compered the event. Alwyn Quadros the joint secretary, John DSilva the treasurer, Elroy Kiran Crasto, Mary DSouza, Valerian Fernandes, the trustees of Fuddar Prathistan were present. The program concluded with a sumptuous lunch at 12.30pm.
