Mangaluru, March 8 : St. Ann’s Teacher Training Institute, Mangaluru, one of the Pioneers in Teacher Training in the Coastal Region of South Canara, celebrated its 134th Annual Day of the College on 5th March 2024. Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, St. Joseph’s Engineering College, Vamanjoor was the chief Guest, Sr. Rose Agnes, the Assistant Provincial Superior of Karnataka Province was the Guest of Honour, as Sr. Maria Smitha A.C. the Joint Secretary of St. Ann’s Campus Institutions presided over the function.

The vibrant celebration began with an invocation and graceful welcome dance by the students and welcome speech by Sr. Pramila DSouza A.C, the Principal of the college. The Annual report highlighted the various academic and co-curricular activities conducted during the year.

Awarding the students with Founded prizes and addressing them and their parents, the chief guest, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza said, “Today, the teaching Profession is the most challenging task. The Post Covid period had a great negative impact on students’ academic achievement. It also led to serious behavioural problems among students. It is at this juncture, the teachers need to be inspiring rather than the mere imparters of knowledge to students”. Fr. Wilfred Prakash commended the management for imparting quality education for the past 134 years and the teacher trainees for choosing this noble profession. The meritorious students and sports achievers were honoured with mementos and certificates. Sr. Rose Agnes A.C. the Assistant Provincial Superior of Karnataka Province awarded the students with certificates for their outstanding performance in academics.

The variety entertainment programme like ‘Nurture Nature for Future’ to care for the Mother Earth for Future generation, ‘Naari’’ - an epitome of love and sacrifice, a Kannada play titled ‘Jyothi Paramjyothi’ highlighted the role of parents to spare time for their children for their wholesome growth. The programme captured the attention and touched the hearts of the audience to carry home the message.

Mrs. Uma and Mrs. Divya Nayak, the student teachers compered the programme and Ms. Harshitha D’Souza, the college president proposed the vote of thanks.
