Bantwal, Jan 8 : ICYM Arva celebrated its Annual Day "Yuva Varshikotsav - 2K23" on December 25, 2023 at 6:30 pm, in St. Peter Claver Church school ground.
The event commenced with a prayer dance by Moriyal Sodality students, infusing ICYM Arva's Yuva Varshikotsav 2023 with a sense of spiritual grace. This was followed by captivating cultural performances by various associations. The cultural programme hosted by Alvina Rodrigues, featured rocking performances with many acts centering around the Christmas theme.
The formal stage program following the cultural events commenced with a heartfelt prayer song led by ICYM Arva.
President Supreeth Fernandes and Secretary Natasha Mascarenhas escorted the following dignitaries to the dias, Rev.Fr.Elias D'Souza,Parish Priest - St.Peter Claver church, Arva; Mr.Anil Lobo- Chairman, MCC Bank and Former President I.C.Y.M Mangalore Diocese; Rev.Fr.Ashwin Lohith Cardoza- Director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese; Rev.Fr.Praveen D'Souza - Director, ICYM Belthangady Deanery; Mr. Steevan Pais- Vice President, Parish Pastoral Council, Arva; Mrs. Monica D'Souza - Secretary, Parish Pastoral Council, Arva; Mrs.Jyoti Monteiro, convener of all commissions; Mithesh D'Souza - President, ICYM Mangalore Diocese; Sushanth Samson Fernandes- Treasurer ,ICYM Mangalore Diocese; Elvin Prashanth D'cunha - President, ICYM Belthangady Deanery; Lavita Lobo - Secretary, ICYM Belthangady Deanery and Mrs.Ashmitha D'Souza- Animator ,ICYM Arva unit.
President Supreeth Fernandes welcomed the guests and the gathering, followed by the inauguration through the lighting of the lamp.
Natasha Mascarenhas, Secretary presented the insightful Annual Report of 2023-24, showcasing the vibrant activities of ICYM Arva.
Fr. Praveen D'Souza distributed the prizes to the winners of various competitions held on the occasions of Monthi Festh and Christmas, following which he delivered a valuable speech filling the audience with insights and encouragement. The Prize list of the winners was announced by lysha Rodrigues.
Mithesh D'Souza distributed prizes to the winners of 'Mathye angnanth samskrthik khel', the list of which was read by Prinson Fernandes.The prize distribution was followed by a very encouraging speech by Mithesh D'Souza.
All good works need to be recognised and encouraged. For the same reason, two gems of the Arva parish were felicitated for their hard work. Felicitation included honoring Sushanth Fernandes for being the treasurer of ICYM Mangalore Diocese and Lavita Lobo - ICYM belthangady Deanery Secretary, by Fr. Ashwin Cardoza. This was followed by a speech from Fr.Ashwin Cardoza.
Mr.Anil Lobo, the main guest of the day, Chairman of MCC Bank was also felicitated by the guests present, for his wonderful contributions towards the society and for his big achievement in winning the "Sahakar Ratna" award. He then spoke on the importance of leadership which needs to be inculcated from a very young age in children. He also encouraged the youth to have more active participation in all the activities of the ICYM.
The champions of the Inter-ward competitions were then announced. Immaculate Heart of Mary Ward bagged the championship and St.Joseph Ward came out as the runners up of the competition.
As a means of fundraising for the event, a lucky draw was organised. Fr.Elias D'Souza picked the lucky draw chit and Arvin Goveas from Padangady was the lucky draw winner.
A presidential speech was then given by Fr. Elias D'Souza who showed his appreciation to the youth of Arva for their great achievements in the year 2023. He also praised the President and Secretary of ICYM arva unit for their great efforts in bringing together all the events.
Sponsors for the event were duly felicitated, and the list for the same was read by Sushanth fernandes.
The vote of thanks was extended by Lloyd Rodrigues - Joint Secretary, and the President Supreeth Fernandes presented the guests with the mementos.
The full stage program, efficiently compered by Aronston D'Souza, paved the way for the eagerly anticipated Konkani drama written by Pradeep Barboza Palladka.The drama, performed by the youth of Arva, unfolded from 9:15 to 11:45, witnessed by a large audience. The night concluded with the DJ and Baila dance.
The program received widespread appreciation, drawing attendees from different places who came to witness this memorable event.
