Vamanjoor, Nov 22 : St Raymond’s College and St Raymond’s English Medium High School, Vamanjoor, Mangaluru organized Annual Sports Day on 16 November 2023. The Annual Athletic Meet embodies the zeal, talents and spirit of sportsmanship of the students of St Raymond’s Institutions.
Rev. Sr. Shubha BS the coordinator of Bethany Educational Society Mangaluru and the correspondent of St. Raymond’s Educational Institutions Presided over the programme. Rev. Fr. Ronson Pinto, the Assistant Parish Priest Shirva and Mr. Muhammad Shamil Arshad the national level skating champion were the Chief guests of the day. Sr. Vithalis Superior of St. Raymond’s Convent , Mr. Jerome Monteiro, Businessman and well-wisher, and Mr. Mayyaddi , PTA Vice President were the guests of honour.
A special opening prayer was offered by the College Choir. The Sports Day started with the march past signifying, unity , discipline and self-control. Then the Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Ronson Pinto prayed God’s Blessings on all the students and prayed for the success of the event. An amazing speech was given by the president Sr. Shubha BS in which she encouraged the students to be persistent and to refine their talents, achieving the greatest of heights. She stated that if there is one field of life which teaches us the most valuable lessons about perseverance and patience, which constitutes a perfect character, it is sports. Mr. Shamil in his address encouraged the students to give their best in sports events .
During the day, the students competed against each other in sports events like relay races, 100 metres race, 800 meters race, 200 metres race, long jump, high jump, shot put, triple jump and discus throw. After the events, prizes were given to the winners.
The Valedictory programme was held in the evening. Sr. Jesintha Crasta the Principal of St. Raymond’s College and Sr. Shanthi Flavia the Headmistress of St. Raymond’s English Medium High school were present for the same. They encouraged the students in the participation of group events and distributed the prizes to the best marching team. The beautiful day ended by singing the college anthem.
