Mangaluru, Sep 23 : Retirement is not the end but it leads to a new beginning. One cannot stop the direction of winds of our age, but we can always adjust the sails of inner peace, joy and relaxation. The Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, Karnataka honoured the retired staff of 2022-23 on Saturday, September 23rd 2023 at the province auditorium for their dedication and hard work and this gesture was very much valued by each of the 10 retired staff. The sanctity of their profession as teachers and power of interaction with their students gave them a sense of satisfaction which was reflected on their radiant smiles as they took the seat of honour on the dais.

The programme commenced with a prayer service led by the staff and students of St Ann’s Higher Primary School, Mangaluru. The Diya was lit by Sr Maria Shamita A.C, the provincial Superior and Vice president of the A.C.E Society; Sr Maria Sudeepa A.C, the secretary of the A.C.E Society, and 3 representatives of the retired staff.

Sr Maria Sudeepa A.C welcomed the gathering and the faces of the retired staff beamed with contentment and gratitude as they were welcomed by Sr Maria Shamita, the provincial superior with a rose each.

The retired staff kept smiling as their best moments in service were captured on stage by their colleagues and were felicitated by the Provincial Superior and the EducationalSecretary with a shawl, garland, fruit basket and a memento.

Mrs Maria Frederick and Mrs Vijaya expressed their sentiments of gratitude to the management, the colleagues, students and all who supported them in their teaching profession.

The Provincial Superior Sr Maria Shamita A.C acknowledged the dedicated and loving services of the retired staff in the various institutions of the Apostolic Carmel in Karnataka. Through a short story from the life of King Alexander the Great and his guru Aristotle, she elaborated the positive impact a teacher can make on his/her students. She thanked the retired staff for their selfless services and wished them well in their future life.

Sr Jenifer Moras proposed the vote of thanks while Srs Maria Sannidhi and Sr Lenita compeered the programme. The programme came to an end with a fellowship meal together.
