Moodbidri, Sep 18 : On September 17, 2023, a significant seminar addressing Government schemes and Health insurance was jointly organized by the Commission for Social Communication (Witness Group) and the Catholic Sabha Moodbidri Unit. The event took place at the Corpus Christi Church Hall, commencing at 8:45 a.m. To kick off the proceedings, attendees were treated to a delightful breakfast.

The opening of the seminar was graced by the presence of Mr. Harry Rego, the President of the Catholic Sabha Moodbidri Unit, who extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. Among the notable figures present were Parish priest Rev. Fr. Onil Dsouza, Vice President of Parish Council Vincent Dsouza, Secretary Norbert Martis, Commission Convenor Celine Dsouza, and the resource persons, Mr. Lawrence D'Souza (President of the Dakshina Kannada Labour Union) and Mr. Loyd Rego (Senior Manager at Star Health).

Mr. Lawrence D'Souza delivered a comprehensive speech elucidating the array of schemes slated for implementation by the corporation in 2023-2024. These schemes aim to uplift economically disadvantaged and minority communities in Karnataka. Through loans and subsidies, the corporation intends to bolster these communities in social, economic, and educational domains. Some of the key schemes discussed were the Arivu Educational Loan Scheme, Ganga Kalyana Scheme, Shrama Shakti Scheme, Community-Based Training Scheme, Overseas Activities Educational Loan Scheme, Vruthi Prothsaha Scheme, Shrama Shakti (Special Women Scheme), and Swavalambi Sarathi Scheme.

Subsequently, Mr. Loyd Rego shed light on the paramount significance of health insurance and elucidated the process of claiming benefits under health insurance schemes.

The attendees also cleared their doubts by asking questions with the resource person, regarding schemes and health insurance policies.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mrs. Anita Miranda, who expressed gratitude to the organizers, resource persons, and attendees. The program was expertly conducted by Mr. Aldrin Fernandes, who served as the program's compere.

Notably, the seminar garnered substantial interest, with approximately 110 people in attendance. It served as an informative platform for disseminating knowledge about government schemes and health insurance, fostering a better understanding of these vital initiatives aimed at the welfare and well-being of the community.
