Mangaluru, Aug 18 : ICYM St. Peter City Deanery along with ICYM Bondel Unit organized "WAVES OF FUN 2023", a fun-filled event on 13th August 2023 at 9:30am at St Lawrence English Medium School hall Bondel.

The programme began with a prayer service led by the ICYM members of Bondel unit. Santhosh Dcosta – Ex diocesean President and Regional representative , Rev Fr Andrew Leo Dsouza- Parish priest St Lawrence church Bondel, Rev. Fr. Peter Gonsalves - Principal St Lawrence English medium school Bondel, Rev. Fr. Paul Sebastian Dsouza – ICYM City Deanery Director, John D'Silva – Vice President Parish Pastoral Council Bondel, Santhosh Misquith – Secretary Parish Pastoral council Bondel, Bianca Viola Saldanha– President ICYM Bondel unit , Ashton Dsouza- President ICYM City Deanery and Ashlin Dsouza- Secretary ICYM City Deanery were present on the dais.

Ashton Dsouza, the President of ICYM City Deanery welcomed the gathering . Santhosh Dcosta, the chief guest and Rev. Fr. Andrew Leo Dsouza Symbolically inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp along with the other dignitaries on the dais. On the occasion of 30th Year anniversary (Pearl jubilee) of ICYM City Deanery ,the official logo of the Jubilee year was launched by the Chief Guest Santhosh Dcosta. The chief guest Santhosh Dcosta addressed the youth and shared his experience in ICYM and gave the youth a thoughtful message. Rev. Fr. Andrew Leo Dsouza, in his Presidential speech mentioned that youth is the future and youth should take up challenges and be focused at one thing at a time and build a great future. Ashlin Dsouza- ICYM City Deanery Secretary proposed the Vote of thanks. Sweedal Mendonca, Cordel compered the programme.

After the inaugural ceremony, a flash mob was performed by the Deanery executive Committee as a part of entertainment, which was then followed by ice breaking sessions and action songs that were conducted for the youth.

Following this, an informative session was organized for all the youth. Dr. Mona Jaqueline Mendonca, Assistant professor, Dept of History was the Resource person. She addressed the youth about mental health and also the effects of social media and the dark side of it. This was followed by Mass organized for all the youth present for the programme.

In the afternoon session, the youth were divided into 5 groups. Fun and exciting water games were conducted for all the youth. The youth actively participated in all the games and fun-filled activities.

During this programme Rev. Fr James Dsouza – Vicar forane ICYM city Deanery, Rev. Fr Ashwin Cardoza – Director ICYM Central Council, Mithesh Dsouza- President ICYM Central council, Wilma Lobo – General Secretary ICYM Central Council, Kevin pinto – ICYM central council member , Sheldon Crasta – Ex President of ICYM Mangalore Dicoese were also present.

Around 150 youth from ICYM City Deanery actively participated in this event. The event concluded with the ICYM Anthem.
